Central Pennsylvania Ragtime & American Music Festival

Quick Details

Enjoy the sweet sounds of ragtime and jazz music at America’s oldest operating narrow gauge railroad.

The East Broad Top Railroad is once again partnering with the Central Pennsylvania Ragtime and American Music Festival to bring the sweet sounds of jazz, ragtime and the blues to Rockhill Furnace! From live performances on the platform to a dinner train and concert experience at Colgate Grove… there is a musical experience for everyone! Nowhere else in the country can you enjoy performances from Grammy award-winning ragtime musicians while experiencing such rich industrial history.

This year’s featured musicians include pianists Adam Swanson, Martin Spitznagel, Bryan Wright, and Andrew Greene; percussionist Steve Torrico, multi-instrumentalists Andy Schumm and Dan Levinson, and Grammy Award-winning drummer Danny Coots.

Free Activities

In conjunction with our regular train departures, festival musicians will entertain the public on a rotating schedule throughout the morning and afternoon on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. While a train ride and/or guided tour is encouraged, a ticket is not required to enjoy the music… so bring a chair and come on down to the Orbisonia Station to enjoy the sweet sounds of ragtime in the shadow of America’s oldest operating narrow gauge railroad.

Have you ever wondered what those old-looking records at Grandma’s house were, or what the machines that played them truly looked like? Historian and collector Shawn Patrick brings a selection of beautifully restored phonographs, wax cylinder players and other mechanical musical machines to the Orbisonia Station, playing antique records for your listening pleasure! Times vary throughout the weekend.

Ticketed Activities

Hop aboard the Musical Express and hear musicians T.J. Muller, Dan Levinson, and Andrew Greene perform LIVE while you travel through the scenic Aughwick Valley. Musicians will stroll from car to car playing several musical selections for your listening pleasure on banjo, clarinet, and bass. Sing along to popular favorites and listen to the syncopated stylings as you roll down the tracks!

Throughout the weekend, the Grammy-award winning musicians of the Central Pennsylvania Ragtime & American Music Festival will perform throughout Huntingdon County, with concerts taking place in Rockhill Furnace, Orbisonia, and the county seat, Huntingdon. Each concert features a different theme, with different music played at each event, so you’ll never hear the same concert twice!

Join us for an evening of movies under the stars at the East Broad Top Railroad’s Orbisonia Station! Bring a chair and a blanket for this evening of movie and musical fun! Grab a bag of popcorn and a hot drink, sit back, and enjoy the show!
