Christmas in Coal Country

Whether you worked around the clock in tough conditions to extract it from the earth or used it to cook and heat your home, life in Pennsylvania centered around coal. Historically, Christmas in Coal Country was a holiday in the most genuine sense of the word, as it was often one of the few days that mines were closed... allowing miners to pause and spend time with their families. We invite you to bundle up, gather your friends and family, and help us evoke that same sense of togetherness aboard a historic train and vintage trolley.

Additional Information/Frequently Asked Questions

The East Broad Top Railroad and Rockhill Trolley Museum strive to be an accessible experience for all visitors.

At this time, standard class cars offer an accessible lift that can assist those in wheelchairs or with mobility needs aboard the train. Trolley rides are accessible by request, as only a few pieces of equipment offer this capability. Trains will deboard at a different location than where they board, and passengers will need to walk between locations.

We ask any parties who may have accessibility needs to utilize the check-box at the time of booking, so that we can best prepare for your arrival. Passengers should be prepared to walk short distances between the boarding and deboarding locations.

Trains and Trolleys will operate rain, shine or snow! In the unlikely event of a cancellation due to weather, passengers affected will be refunded in full. Trolleys will pause operation in severe lightning, but will resume when safe.

All sales and transactions are final at the time of booking. There are no refunds on ticket purchases. Tickets are not transferable. Changes in date, departure time, or item may be subject to a $6 per ticket fee.

While all of the cars you will ride are heated, it is important to come prepared for the temperature and weather outside. Bundle up and wear sturdy shoes for walking around railroad property. The train will deboard in a different location from where you departed, requiring a small walk to return to the Orbisonia Station.

Trains and Trolleys will operate rain, shine or snow! In the unlikely event of a cancellation due to weather, passengers effected will be refunded in full. Trolleys will pause operation in severe lightning, but will resume when safe.

At this time, masks are optional for passengers at the East Broad Top Railroad and the Rockhill Trolley Museum. Trains and all public spaces will be sanitized between use, and our staff always take extra care to ensure the cleanliness of our facilities. We ask all passengers to follow current CDC recommendations as they pertain to them.
