Christmas In Coal Country
Duration: Varies by Activity
Info: This is an evening experience! We highly recommend enjoying a later departure to best see the lights and decorations!
Ring in the Holiday Retro-Style at the East Broad Top Railroad!
Whether you worked around the clock in tough conditions to extract it from the earth or used it to cook and heat your home, life in Pennsylvania centered around coal.
Historically, Christmas in Coal Country was a holiday in the most genuine sense of the word, as it was often one of the few days that mines were closed… allowing miners to pause and spend time with their families. We invite you to bundle up, gather your friends and family, and help us evoke that same sense of togetherness aboard a historic train and vintage trolley.
While we always recommend advance reservations online, if space is available on the date of departure, we do accept walk-up reservations. If you wish to purchase at the ticket window, we recommend arriving no later than 1/2 hour prior to the train’s departure.
Passengers will enjoy a one-hour diesel-powered train ride aboard a selection of heated cars. The train will depart from the historic Orbisonia Station and travel north, where you will encounter Santa along the way and he will give every child a special gift.
Vintage Trolley Ride
Each Christmas in Coal Country ticket automatically includes a 45-minute ride on a vintage trolley car through the Blacklog Narrows, which will be decked out in holiday lights.
Trolley rides depart every half hour from 4pm – 9pm
Passengers can take any trolley departure on the date of their trip, either before or after their train excursion. A full schedule of trolley departure times is included in your reservation confirmation email.
